A multinational US-based consultancy in global communications, WE Communications, has formally opened operations here through its affiliate Chase Advisors. It said that this is the most significant step in the company’s strategy for expansion in Southeast Asia, though it did leverage on its data analytics and capabilities in digital platforms with deep local market knowledge to drive this presence.

Speaking at the launch event in Kuala Lumpur, Kass Sells, CEO of WE International, said: “Malaysia is a critical market for businesses looking to grow both within Southeast Asia and on a more global level. With deep economic ties with the US and an explosion of its digital ecosystem, it is a perfect location for us to deepen our presence.”.

Such expansion into the Malaysian market was prompted by WE’s clients already operating in India, Singapore, Australia, and China. Market research, according to Sells, revealed significant opportunities in Malaysia, particularly driven by the growth of its middle class and its strategic position in global trade and digital infrastructure. “We believe this is an ideal time to leverage our strong client base and regional expertise,” he remarked.

The services offered will include policy advocacy, data analytics, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and many more, under the umbrella of WE Communications. Kanesan Veluppillai, Managing Director for Chase Advisors Malaysia, said that the team of experts brings extensive local market expertise, coupled with a deep understanding of the business landscape and regulatory environment in Malaysia.

In this social media-driven and increasingly mobile-first landscape, businesses require a trusted partner that can understand how to resonate in content that is hyper-localized as well as tailor strategies for each respective market,” said Nitin Mantri, Regional Executive Managing Director of WE Asia-Pacific.

Moving forward, WE Communications will drive growth in Southeast Asia and is set to enter Indonesia as a next strategic step for the regional development. Founded in 1983, WE Communications was launched with an original goal of helping technology companies tell their stories. Today, the firm specializes in technology, health, and consumer-tech communications that serve a broad range of global clients.
