Luckin Coffee plans to enter Malaysia in 2025 and has reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Global Aroma Sdn Bhd, wholly-owned subsidiary of Hextar Industries Berhad, through which Global Aroma acquired exclusive rights to develop, operate, and manage Luckin Coffee outlets in Malaysia.

As of the third quarter of 2024, there are 21,343 stores outside China. This is the largest part of Luckin Coffee’s international expansion plan. Total new locations opening in the quarter are reported to be 1,382. This translates into a growth rate of 6.9% in terms of store count of what existed in the previous quarter.

Dr. Jeff Lim Chee Lip, chief executive officer of Global Aroma Sdn Bhd, was thrilled about the alliance, saying, “We are looking forward to the partnership with Luckin Coffee to bring their coffee innovation experience to Malaysia. We aim to become the household name for Luckin Coffee throughout the country, brewing Malaysians an excellent cup which would touch their heart.

Luckin Coffee CEO Dr. Jinyi Guo also welcomed the partnership and said it was a big deal for the brand’s international expansion. “We are excited to partner with Hextar Industries Berhad to bring Luckin Coffee to Malaysia.” Their financial strength and management expertise will be crucial in accelerating our market development, enabling us to deliver the high-quality products and services that Luckin Coffee is known for,” he said.

Luckin Coffee also extends its international expansion into Malaysia. Hextar Industries Berhad is Luckin Coffee’s latest partner as it hopes that such a local expertise would create a solid business foundation to operate sustainably and successfully in the country. By its expansion efforts, Luckin Coffee shall be replicating its previous success in other markets by taking its coffee products and technology-enabled customer experience to the hearts of the people of Malaysia.
