Plann, a Sydney-based social media scheduling tool used by over three million brands worldwide, has been acquired by Australian in-bio link provider Linktree for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was announced by Linktree co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria in a LinkedIn post, where he expressed his excitement about the deal.
Zaccaria highlighted the significance of the acquisition within the Australian tech ecosystem. “Outside of Canva and Leonardo.Ai, Aussies partnering with Aussies is rare, and I’m super proud to be a part of the Australian tech ecosystem,” said Zaccaria, who is recognized as one of Australia’s Top 100 Young Entrepreneurs.
This acquisition follows Linktree’s expansion strategy, which included acquiring California-based companies Bento and Koji last year. Plann, founded by former advertising executive Christy Laurence in mid-2016, has grown to have a global presence with staff in 10 countries and customers in more than 160 nations.
Laurence, Plann’s CEO, also took to LinkedIn to express her enthusiasm for the acquisition. “I’m beyond excited to share that Plann has been acquired by Linktree, an Australian-born global leader I’ve long admired,” Laurence wrote. She recalled her early interactions with Zaccaria and praised his shared passion for the industry and innovative ideas for building successful products.
Laurence described joining Linktree as a natural fit, citing the company’s global reach, scale, and innovative technology. “With Linktree’s global reach and our team’s expertise in social media scheduling, I cannot wait to help online businesses succeed in ways we could only dream of before,” she said.
Reflecting on Plann’s eight-year journey, Laurence expressed gratitude to her team and the Plann community, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that led to this milestone. “May this be the sweetest validation of what we’ve always known—that what you do has always been worthy of the world stage,” she added.
Plann described the acquisition on its website as a “proud milestone” that brings the company closer to its goal of scaling its social media tools to benefit more brands, businesses, and entrepreneurs. The company assured its users that they can continue using Plann as usual, with potential enhancements on the horizon as the integration with Linktree progresses.
