Cisco has rolled out three strategic collaborations on the innovation of Malaysia’s digital economy, led by Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company made the announcement during its maiden AI Day event. The partnerships include collaborating with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. It will set up an AI hackathon aimed at filling the AI gap in the talent pool, providing university students with practical experience developing AI solutions.
The potential economic impact that AI will have in Malaysia is huge-it’s estimated to boost the country’s gross domestic product by up to US$115 billion (RM493 billion). At AI Day, Cisco shared its holistic approach to help Malaysian businesses address these challenges by building trusted infrastructure for AI workloads and integrating AI solutions across its product offerings to enhance customer experiences.
Similarly, Fabian Bigar Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital asserted that AI brings the important boost that the digital economy in Malaysia needs. In his opinion, “the potential for AI to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and unlock new avenues for growth is immense.” He suggested that AI should be used to place Malaysia on the global maps of competitiveness in an inclusive manner for everyone in society.
That’s not all. As part of its Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, Cisco signed two collaboration agreements meant to drive economic resilience and social inclusion through digitization. The first partnership is with Telekom Malaysia (TM) on modernizing JDN’s digital infrastructure to reinforce network performance and reliability in support of bandwidth-intensive applications.
Cisco AVail will provide Permodalan Nasional Berhad, high Ai, Io, and Security technologies at PNB facilities to assist in testing sustainable workplace innovations. These efforts demonstrate Cisco’s commitment to operations excellence and driving sustainable growth in Malaysia.
Underlining the strong position of the company in leveraging its networking capabilities with industry-leading security and data solutions, Hana Raja said Cisco is unique. The open AI hackathon for university students seeks to inspire AI-driven educational solutions for building innovation among Malaysia’s youth.
Overall, a strategic commitment toward strengthening the digital landscape of Malaysia and towards integrating AI across multiple fields reflects the initiatives of Cisco.
